Copy for trade corridors, road transport and aviation

Trade facilitation bodies, road transport, business aviation and the institutions around them — writing that has to work for a transport minister, a customs officer and a chief executive in the same document.

What we already know before you brief us

  1. 01

Trade facilitation has its own grammar

TIR, the Convention behind it and the Carnet that carries it are not interchangeable terms. Nor are transit, transhipment and customs clearance. A piece about a corridor that muddles them will be corrected by the first official who reads it.

  2. 02

Landlocked is a category, not an adjective

There are thirty-two official landlocked developing countries — sixteen in Africa, ten in Asia — and the UN's own framing is that the problem is remoteness from markets, not distance from water. Copy that treats it as geography rather than economics misses the argument.

  3. 03

    Corridors are political documents

The East Africa Corridor, the Belt and Road across sixty-four countries, Mercosur integration in South America: writing about any of them means writing about member states with different positions. The tone is institutional for a reason, and the reason is that every sentence is read by someone with a stake.

  4. 04

    Business aviation is not aviation

Charter, fractional and FBO are three different businesses with three different buyers. Handling, ramp, slots and crewing are operational words that a marketing writer will use loosely and an operator will not.

  5. 05

    The number is the story

A study putting USD 9 billion on the table for two landlocked economies, or a 50% cut in border waiting times, does more work than any amount of adjective. Find the figure, source it, and build the piece on it.
